Description
Kern Energy is seeking an Environmental Coordinator who is responsible for developing, implementing, managing and auditing environmental programs at Kern to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. They will oversee environmental assessments, air and water quality testing, emissions monitoring and reporting, hazardous waste management, and other environmental management activities. In addition, the Environmental Coordinator will be responsible for providing training and technical support to personnel, assisting in implementation of environmental plans and policies, and coordinating environmental-related research and development.

- Provide advice and guidance to management, staff, and stakeholders on environmental matters, including regulatory requirements, best practices, and emerging trends.
- Perform testing, monitoring, and sampling of fired equipment, potable water, wastewater, hazardous waste, and other streams.
- Monitor and report on environmental performance to ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and standards.
- Ensure the organization complies with all relevant environmental regulations, policies, and standards by monitoring and reporting on environmental performance.
- Prepare and submit environmental reports to regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of all environmental activities, including audits, assessments, and reports.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the position while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Effective teamwork and independent work abilities.
- Familiarity with VisiumKMS and Incident Command System (ICS).
- Understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental management, or a related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in safety training and environmental management or compliance in an industrial setting.
