Electrical Engineer III

Job Overview:
Pay Range: $72hr - $77hr

• Design and support transmission and distribution substation engineering projects for electric utilities and renewable energy systems.
• Develop primary (outdoor) substation physical designs, including layouts and required engineering studies.
• Create detailed engineering drawings such as single-line diagrams, substation plans and elevations, and general arrangement layouts.
• Prepare equipment erection drawings, construction details, and layouts for high-voltage bus systems, cables, conduits, and wiring.
• Design auxiliary power systems, grounding systems, and control building layouts.
• Ensure compliance with North XX high-voltage substation standards and applicable codes.
• Apply industry standards including IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC in all engineering deliverables.
• Work with Air-Insulated Substations (AIS) and Gas-Insulated Substations (GIS) technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design accuracy, safety, and project efficiency.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in transmission and distribution substation engineering.
• Proven experience supporting electric utilities and renewable energy power plant projects.
• Hands-on expertise in substation design, including physical layouts and engineering documentation.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage systems, equipment integration, and safety standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university (BSEE preferred).

• Professional Engineering (PE) license in the United States or active pursuit of licensure.
• Ability and willingness to review, approve, and seal engineering work.
• Experience working with utility providers such as PG&E.
