Engineer​/Senior Engineer

Eligibility

Applicants must possess either a valid Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) Certificate or be currently registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of California.

• Engineer: $3,555.45 – $4,249.09 bi‑weekly
• Senior Engineer: $3,928.42 – $4,694.83 bi‑weekly

• Appraisal (100%) – evaluation of training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position through investigation, oral exam and/or application rating.
• Oral exam – weighted at 100% if required.
• Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Geomatic, Mechanical, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or Geology.
• OR 120 units or 180 quarter units of accredited college/university coursework in the aforementioned disciplines.
• OR Possession of a valid State of California Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate or Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) Certificate.
• OR Valid State of California registration/licensure as a Professional Engineer, Geologist, Land Surveyor, or Architect.

• Valid State of California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer.
• Valid State of California registration as a Professional Traffic Engineer.
• Valid State of California licensure as a Land Surveyor, Architect, or Registered Geologist.
• Valid State of California Engineer in Training Certificate.
• Valid State of California Land Surveyor in Training Certificate (LSIT).
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

• Admittance requires a valid government‑issued photo identification.
• A background check may be conducted.
• Post‑offer medical and drug screening tests may be required at county expense.
• Those admitted to the examination will be placed on an eligible list for twelve months unless otherwise specified by the Civil Service Commission.
