Compensation:
- Bakersfield and San Luis Obispo: $155,000–$195,000 annually
Diversified Project Services International, Inc. (DPSI) is seeking an experienced California-licensed Civil Engineer to lead transportation, public infrastructure, and private development projects from planning through construction support. This position combines senior-level technical work, project and client management, supervision of a small project team, and participation in client development and professional networking.
The successful candidate will have experience in transportation design, grading and drainage, and hydrology and hydraulic studies, along with the ability to independently manage project scope, schedules, budgets, quality, and client expectations.
What You’ll Do- Serve as the engineer in responsible charge for assigned projects and sign and seal engineering documents within your area of professional competence.
- Manage multiple civil engineering projects from planning and design through permitting, bidding, and construction support.
- Lead transportation design, grading and drainage plans, hydrology and hydraulic studies, utility coordination, stormwater systems, and related civil improvements.
- Prepare and review plans, specifications, calculations, technical studies, reports, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
- Establish project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and quality-control requirements.
- Monitor project financial performance and address changes in scope, project risks, technical concerns, and schedule or budget issues.
- Coordinate with clients, cities, counties, Caltrans, utility agencies, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Lead client meetings, agency coordination, design reviews, project presentations, and responses to plan-check comments.
- Supervise and provide technical direction to approximately one to three engineers, designers, technicians, or other project staff.
- Mentor employees and provide feedback that supports technical growth, accountability, and successful project delivery.
- Maintain client relationships and identify potential projects and additional service opportunities.
- Participate in proposals, project interviews, professional associations, industry events, community functions, and networking activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Current and active registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in California.
- At least five years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, quality, clients, and agency coordination.
- Advanced experience in transportation design, grading and drainage, and hydrology and hydraulic studies.
- Experience delivering projects for public agencies, private commercial development clients, or both.
- Experience directing, supervising, or mentoring engineering and technical staff.
- Strong technical judgment, project-management, communication, and client-relations skills.
- Experience supporting proposals, professional networking, or other business development activities.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and applicable engineering design and analysis software.
- Valid California driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Five or more years of project-management experience.
- Experience serving as the engineer of record or engineer in responsible charge.
- Experience with California public-agency transportation or capital-improvement projects.
- Experience with private commercial, industrial, residential, mixed-use, or land-development projects.
- Established professional relationships in Bakersfield, Kern County, San Luis Obispo, or the Central Coast.
- QSD, QSP, or another relevant professional certification.
