Certification Details
- Administers respiratory therapy to patients under general medical supervision.
- Performs complex respiratory treatments, electrocardiography testing, cardiopulmonary services, and medical diagnostic procedures.
- Administers IPPB therapy, humidity and aerosol therapy, medical gas and pulmonary drainage procedures.
- Performs cardiorespiratory resuscitation and related procedures.
- Provides continuous mechanical ventilation and maintains artificial airways.
- Performs complex pulmonary function testing and arterial blood gas sampling.
- Cleans and maintains respiratory therapy equipment.
- Operates analyzers to determine oxygen and other gas saturation in blood.
- Serves as a knowledge resource to physicians and hospital staff regarding respiratory care.
- Provides patient and family instruction on equipment use and disease management.
- Develops individualized exercise routines and monitoring techniques for patients.
- Implements infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Responds to emergency calls throughout the hospital.
- Documents care given and maintains treatment records.
- Conducts quality assurance monitoring.
- Demonstrates clinical knowledge and skill in care of patients from newborn to geriatric age groups.
- Assists with maintenance and processing of cardiopulmonary equipment and products.
- Assists with bronchoscopies and cardiorespiratory rehabilitation.
- Participates in training and supervision of new employees and nursing personnel.
Job Details
- Knowledge of operating principles of ventilators and respiratory care equipment including IPPB, nebulizers, humidifiers, and oxygen analyzers.
- Understanding of cardiopulmonary physiology, electrocardiography testing, and related diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to conduct diagnostic tests such as EEG, EKG, Pulmonary Function, and Echocardiograms.
- Ability to explain and teach fundamentals of respiratory therapy and cardiopulmonary services.
- Skill in ventilator management and interaction with physicians and nurses.
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gas results and recommend appropriate therapy changes.
- Understanding of hospital routine and organization.
- Ability to work collaboratively with medical staff and patients.

- Per Diem position, indicating variable or as-needed scheduling.
