Director of Billing
The Director of Billing is responsible for overseeing all revenue cycle billing operations across the organization. This role ensures accurate, compliant, and timely billing practices while optimizing reimbursement and minimizing denials. The Director of Billing provides strategic leadership to the billing team and collaborates cross-functionally with finance, compliance, clinical operations, and executive leadership to drive revenue integrity and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all healthcare billing operations, including charge capture, claims submission, payment posting, and collections
- Oversee revenue cycle performance metrics (AR days, denial rates, net collection rate, aging reports) and implement process improvements
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance guidelines
- Develop and enforce billing policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Monitor and reduce claim denials through root cause analysis and corrective action plans
- Collaborate with coding, credentialing, and clinical departments to ensure accurate documentation and reimbursement
- Prepare and present financial and operational reports to executive leadership
- Manage audits (internal and external) and ensure corrective actions are implemented
- Lead, mentor, and develop billing managers and staff
- Oversee system optimization within EMR/PM systems to improve workflow and reporting
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in healthcare billing or revenue cycle management
- 3+ years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and commercial payer guidelines
- Experience with EMR/Practice Management systems
- Strong analytical and financial reporting skills
- Proven ability to improve revenue cycle KPIs and reduce AR days
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
