ASSISTANT DIRECTOR II, CYBERSECURITY & INFRASTRUCTURE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Extensive knowledge of principles, theories, methods, and technologies related to cybersecurity, network infrastructure, systems engineering, and security operations within an enterprise-level environment
  • Foundational cybersecurity operations certification (e.g., industry-recognized cybersecurity fundamentals credential) required
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF), incident response processes, regulatory requirements (FERPA, COPPA), and best practices for TK‑8 cybersecurity programs
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience in an applied, enterprise setting
  • Experience in leading cybersecurity functions, including threat monitoring, vulnerability management, endpoint security, identity access management, disaster recovery, and business continuity

JOB GOAL

To safeguard District students, staff, and instructional and administrative systems by planning, organizing, and directing all activities related to cybersecurity, network and systems infrastructure, identity and access management, endpoint protection, and disaster recovery; ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable technology services throughout the District.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Under general direction, is responsible for broad and complex assignments supporting enterprise-level cybersecurity, infrastructure systems, and multi‑platform network environments
  • Assists with leading the District's Cyber Security Management Team and Network Engineers; recruits, trains, supervises, evaluates staff, and directs day‑to‑day operations to ensure alignment with District priorities and service expectations
  • Provides leadership and technical oversight for enterprise security architecture, including network segmentation, firewall systems, SIEM/SOAR platforms, endpoint protection solutions, managed detection and response (MDR) services, identity systems, and overall security governance
  • Manages the planning, design, implementation, and support of District LAN/WAN, wireless, routing, switching, firewall, server, cloud, storage, backup, and disaster recovery infrastructure
  • Oversees deployment, configuration, administration, and continuous improvement of security and monitoring systems, ensuring timely identification, prioritization, and remediation of vulnerabilities across servers, endpoints, and network systems
  • Directs and coordinates District‑wide cybersecurity incident response activities, including investigation, containment, documentation, root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and post‑incident reporting
  • Evaluates emerging cybersecurity and infrastructure technologies; assesses risk, cost, and operational impact; and recommends solutions aligned with District instructional, administrative, and security objectives
  • Plans, scopes, budgets, and manages complex cybersecurity and infrastructure projects, ensuring completion in accordance with District quality standards, timelines, funding requirements, and budget constraints
  • Oversees planning, implementation, documentation, and compliance for infrastructure and security projects funded through the FCC E‑Rate Program
  • Provides executive‑level communication and reporting related to cybersecurity risks, incidents, and infrastructure initiatives; effectively communicates complex technical information to technical staff, administrators, and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Ensures accurate and current documentation of cybersecurity procedures, network diagrams, system configurations, disaster recovery processes, and infrastructure architecture
  • Collaborates with Network Support Technicians, Network Administrators, vendors, and managed service providers to ensure effective technology planning, security posture, and operational support
