Under the administrative direction of the Director of Athletics, the Associate Director of Athletics for Administration serves as a key administrative leader within the Athletics Department and supports the Director of Athletics and executive staff by coordinating and implementing human resources, business operations, sport administration, and performance support functions. The position is accountable for the effective stewardship of people, resources, and programs through the establishment of cohesive, compliant and sustainable business practices aligned with University and CSU policies as well as NCAA regulations.
The role partners closely with campus units to integrate Athletics operations within University systems and policies, strengthen internal controls, and promote operational efficiency and transparency. The position plays a critical role in advancing a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement while supporting staff development and ensuring student‑athlete health, safety, and competitive success.
- Serve as the primary athletics liaison to campus Human Resources (People & Culture) and the Office of Faculty Affairs on all personnel‑related matters, ensuring timely communication and consistent application of University and CSU policies.
- Assist with coordinating athletics staff recruitments, onboarding, evaluations, corrective actions, and off‑boarding processes under the guidance of campus Human Resources and the Office of Faculty Affairs.
- Coordinate and support department‑wide staff training initiatives, including compliance training, leadership development, and professional development programming, in collaboration with Athletics leadership.
- Support Athletics supervisors with matters related to performance management, employee relations, and best practices for managing teams in a collegiate athletics environment, consistent with HR policies and guidance.
- Support organizational planning, succession planning, and workforce development in collaboration with the Director of Athletics and Executive Staff by gathering information, coordinating discussions, and supporting implementation of approved plans.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high‑performing departmental culture aligned with institutional values.
- Oversee and coordinate Athletics business operational processes for all revenue‑generating activities, including ticketing operations, game guarantees, NCAA distributions, athletic camps, and special events.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between Athletics and internal campus departments (including Human Resources, Business Services, Facilities, Information Technology Services, University Police Department, Risk Management, and Contracts & Procurement) to ensure business processes are integrated, compliant with CSU and University policies, and operationally efficient.
- Act as Athletics’ liaison to Information Technology Services, ensuring all applicable systems and platforms (including ticketing and payment systems) meet PCI compliance standards and University security requirements.
