Packaging Machine Operator – Food Service Fresh – Shift 1

Full‑time, regular, manual labor – Bakersfield, CA. Salary: $20 – $23 per hour.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role requires operating and maintaining automated bagging and scale equipment to ensure efficient, safe production of high‑quality products. The PMO must keep equipment clean, monitor weights, minimize waste, maintain records, and meet daily schedule quotas.

• Operate and maintain packaging equipment for high‑quality production.
• Monitor the production line and adjust settings to meet company standards.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate production records and report concerns to the Production Supervisor.
• Minimize film and plant waste, monitor weight control, and enforce sanitation standards.
• Meet daily bag‑count quotas and ensure proper bag quality (seals, codes, graphics, registration).
• Keep work area orderly and replenish supplies.
• Assist in critical control points: monitor metal detector, X‑ray, leak, and air displacement checks.
• Coordinate bag changes following correct procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent, or one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication in English, both written and verbal.
• Experience working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and meeting production goals.

• Complete scale and bagger training and pass final examinations.
• Obtain certification on bagging and scale machines through required training programs.
• Complete Lock‑out/Tag‑out Awareness Training.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow instructions.

• 6 months to 1 year experience operating packaging equipment in a food production or manufacturing facility.
• Experience with Triangle, Pacmac, Ishida scales or similar bagging machines.
• Experience with automated packaging equipment.
• Experience in the food or beverage industry.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) – preferred.

• Ability to ascend and descend ramps, steps, ladders, and stairs with three‑point contact.
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, hot/humid or cold/wet conditions.
• Capacity to lift, slide, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Able to stand for extended periods.

First shift: 6:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Occasional weekend work and overtime may be required based on business needs.
