Unit InformationHospital total bed count: 47
• Unit bed count: 10
Staffing on Unit:
- Days: 3 RNs, 1 CN, 1 CP
- Nights: 3 RNs, 1 CN, 1 CP
- Weekends: 3 RNs, 1 CN, 1 CP
Call required? Yes – special procedures may require 1:1 ratio; open heart cases typically use afternoon; TAVR cases scheduled later.
Floating to other units (AHBD ICU, AHSB PCU, AHSB ED) when overstaffed.
Weekend coverage required – unit operates 24/7.

Special equipment used:
Teleflex Arrow IA Balloon Pumps/Impella/Tablo, PIRRT, Stryker Air Tap, Stryker cooling system, Ultrasound, EKG 12‑lead, Edwards Hemosphere, Nihon Kohden monitors, Level 1 rapid transfuser, re‑sternotomy cart, EVD drains.
- Re‑sternotomy for emergent re‑access post open heart
- Moderate sedation procedures, TEE, possibly bronchoscopy
Delivers coordinated nursing care for patients or assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
Supervises and directs activities of assigned nursing staff; coordinates care with other disciplines using critical thinking and independent judgment.
Job Requirements- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) – preferred - Experience:
Acute care facility experience – preferred - Licensure:
Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in state of practice – required - Certifications:
CPR/BLS (BLS, HS‑BLS, RQIBLS) – required - Facility‑specific: AHA‑BLS or ARC‑BLS – required; AHA‑ACLS or ARC‑ALS – required
- Collects relevant data pertinent to patient health or situation.
- Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis and care issues.
- Develops a plan prescribing interventions to attain outcomes.
- Implements plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies for health and safety.
- Evaluates progress toward outcomes and identifies outcomes for patient.
- Collaborates with the patient, family, and healthcare team to provide patient care in a safe, healing, humane environment.
- Provides learning opportunities for patients/family and team members.
- Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team.
- Participates in discharge planning to provide continuity of care.
- Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
