What you’ll be responsible for in this role

The Quality Control Lead will assist and monitor production and product quality to ensure all products meet established specifications. The Lead will assist the QC Supervisor in developing, maintaining and implementing quality systems and food safety programs, and will provide support and direction to Quality Control Technicians.

Job duties
  • Train and review QC methodologies, SOPs, performance and techniques with QC personnel, including calibration of equipment to ensure accuracy and repeatability of test results
  • Prepare and ship samples to customers
  • Ensure all analytical and production check frequencies are met
  • Monitor compliance to specifications, methods, and procedures, GMP, HACCP and food safety programs through records review
  • Conduct routine plant inspections to verify compliance with quality and food safety programs and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in the investigation of customer complaints and holds for non-conformance
  • Monitor quality and status of products in inventory
  • Monitor CIP systems and documentation to ensure proper cleaning; validate records and compliance to established parameters
  • Perform routine sanitation inspections and verify efficacy with associated equipment through visual inspection and microbiological testing
  • Manage and oversee Retain area
  • Onboard and refresh training of QC Technicians
  • Review Food Safety and Quality Records
  • On occasion, perform QC Technicians’ responsibilities
Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or related experience and/or training; or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, food safety, plant audits, sanitation and other state and federal regulatory requirements
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Ability to work independently without daily supervision

Preferred qualifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in food manufacturing or food production
  • Supervisory experience in quality assurance in food or beverage manufacturing
  • HACCP & SQF Certification
Physical demands and environmental hazards
  • Work in a manufacturing facility with cold (90°F) environments, loud conditions, proximity to chemicals, and laboratory settings
  • Must be able to work in wet, cold or hot environments
  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods; occasional climbing
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs
Hours and workdays
  • 2nd shift (2:00pm–10:30pm); overtime and weekend requirements may apply
