Dirty Bird Industries LLC, DBA , is a firearms, ammunition, optics, and accessories retailer serving customers online and across the counter in our local store front. We are hiring a Category Buyer to own the purchasing for assigned product categories and report directly to our Director of E-Commerce.

This is a seat with real ownership. You will decide what items we carry, what we pay for, and how much of the item sits on our shelves. You will help build the vendor relationships that determine whether we can get product when our customers want it — which, in this industry, customer satisfaction is the whole game.

• Own purchase orders end to end for firearms, ammunition, optics, parts and accessories
• Negotiate pricing, terms, freight, and promotional support with distributors and manufacturers
• Build and maintain vendor relationships across the industry, including at trade shows
• Manage inventory levels against sales velocity and seasonality
• Work with our accounting team to track margin by category and flag what is and is not working
• Evaluate new products and lines, and make the case for the ones worth carrying
• Work alongside sales, marketing, and warehouse so buying decisions match what we can actually sell and ship
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and reporting

• Demonstrated negotiation ability with vendors or suppliers
• Financial literacy — you are comfortable with margin, markup, landed cost, and turn
• Strong math skills and attention to numerical detail
• Clear written and verbal communication
• Organizational skills to manage many open POs, vendors, and deadlines at once
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Must be able to legally possess, purchase, and operate firearms under all local, state, and federal laws.

• High school or equivalent
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Marketing (Preferred)

• 3 – 5 years of buying/purchasing experience in firearms industry (Required)
• Experience with inventory management or ERP systems
• Existing distributor and manufacturer relationships (Preferred)
• Proven negotiation ability with vendors or suppliers
