Position Description
General Summary
A Certified Crane Operator safely and effectively operates hydra-lift cranes (Fixed Cab Certification for small crane and Swing Cab Certification for heavy cranes) to move and properly place equipment and materials on construction sites.
Essential Job Functions
1. Regular and reliable attendance.
2. Prepared and on time for scheduled shift with proper PPE.
3. Responsible for Daily Shift validations.
4. Must possess a current and valid CDL with required endorsements and clean driving record.
5. Have current certification specific to crane being operated.
6. Conduct and complete a pre-trip inspection of crane checking all fluids/tires/lights and other sections listed on pre-trip form.
7. Conduct daily crane inspections for unsafe conditions/deficiencies and notify supervision of conditions.
8. Gather appropriate job permits and ensure they are filled out correctly with correct signatures.
9. Be aware of the dangers associated with hazardous atmospheres and hazards associated with accessing job site and transportation clearances.
10. Perform job walk to identify all potential hazards around working area (low lying equipment and overhead utilities) and take procedural actions to mitigate or eliminate if any found.
11. Participate in safe work, safety audits and report near hits.
12. Perform monthly self and equipment audit to ensure compliance (vehicle registration/ annual and quad certs, CDL and crane certification current, etc.).
13. Test the job site for immediate respiratory dangers like H2S or oxygen deficient with multi-gas monitor.
14. Complete lift plans which include boom height, boom length, load radius, load weight, crane capacity, etc.
15. Properly use mats, blocks or cribbing and outriggers as they affect the supporting surfaces to handle the expected loads of the operation.
16. Understand and show competence with using rigging equipment and application.
17. Safely and smoothly pick, carry, swing and place loads being lifted and positioned.
18. Operate crane safely at all times, especially in the following conditions: operating near electric power lines, using various approved counterweight configurations, handling loads out of the operator's vision (operating in the blind), using electronic communications techniques such as radios, etc.
19. Perform tasks assigned by PLW or Foreman.
20. Be actively involved in all safety process.
21. Develop knowledge of KSI SOPs to ensure compliance with procedures.
22. Follow all KSI and customer policies and procedures.
23. Shall perform all physical and mental requirements listed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to read and write in English
• Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions in English
• Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner.
• Knowledge of Lock Out/ Tag Out process
• Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.)
• Knowledge of Stop Work Authority (SWA)
• Ability to complete and pass required customer training
• Ability to use capacity load charts.
• Understand limitations of load charts and footnotes, the difference between structural and limited capacity by stability.
• Knowledge on what is included in a load chart capacity, the range diagram and its relationship to the load chart, the work area chart and its relationship to the load chart, where to find and how to use the "parts-of-line" information the safe working load of hoist line.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of industry specific safety standards
• Knowledge of federal regulations and industry standards.
• Ability to complete weekly knowledge retention training
Education and Experience
Preferably 3 years of industry experience along with knowledge of tools.
