Journeyman Lineman
The Journeyman Lineman will install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground distribution systems ranging from 4kV to 115kV. This role requires expertise in climbing poles, operating bucket trucks, stringing and splicing wire, installing poles and transformers, troubleshooting outages, reading schematics and staking sheets, and maintaining OSHA-compliant work zones. The position involves heavy equipment operation, meticulous documentation, and the safe execution of electrical line construction and maintenance across various terrains and weather conditions.
Responsibilities- Install and maintain overhead and underground distribution systems (4kV–115kV).
- Climb poles and operate bucket trucks for access to high-voltage systems.
- String and splice wire, and install poles and transformers.
- Troubleshoot electrical outages and read schematics and staking sheets.
- Maintain OSHA-compliant work zones for safety.
- Operate heavy equipment necessary for the job.
- 5+ years of high-voltage lineman experience.
- Proficiency in climbing poles and working at heights.
- Strong knowledge of rigging, grounding, and cover-up techniques.
- Ability to read prints, schematics, and staking sheets.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Completion of OSHA 30 and OSHA 10 training.
Skills & Qualifications
- Valid California Class A Driver’s License.
- Graduation from IBEW/Cal-Nev JATC or a recognized lineman apprenticeship program.
- Willingness to travel statewide as required.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Capability to work extended hours and evenings.

Work EnvironmentThis role involves outdoor high-voltage field work on overhead and underground distribution systems. It requires climbing, working in bucket trucks, and operating heavy equipment. Employees must be prepared for exposure to varied weather conditions and travel throughout California.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
