Main Purpose Of The Job

The primary function of this position is to perform and assist with basic maintenance, identification of problems, repairs and installations, as well as maintain, replace, build, adjust, clean and modify the facilities and buildings according to a set schedule, completing preventive maintenance projects as scheduled and in emergency and non-emergency situations while observing all safety regulations and ensuring all GMP and quality standards are met to maintain the efficient flow of product through the production process.

  • Put on all required personal protective equipment and safety gear, perform a safety check on equipment to be used in daily operations and ensure all safety devices are functioning properly.
  • Obtain work schedule and daily production risk predictions from the scheduler, prioritize work and prepare for operations.
  • Complete LOTO/shift hand‑off, communicate with the prior and/or relieving operator to discuss any line issues.
  • Identify and correct problems as they arise or notify the appropriate company personnel as required.
  • Maintain floors, walls, doors, windows and overhead areas of the plant to acceptable state‑federal regulatory conditions.
  • Perform general carpentry, plumbing, masonry and scheduled maintenance on the buildings, equipment and grounds as required.
  • Build, replace, repair, paint, weld, modify, adjust, install and clean existing plumbing, masonry, equipment, doors, drywall, windows, vents, drains, roofs, signs, flooring, loading docks, restrooms, etc. as needed.
  • Order parts and supplies for repairs and estimate labor and material costs for painting projects as needed.
  • Install and/or assist with the installation of new equipment, machinery and safety‑related items as directed.
  • Assist all trades with repairs, replacements, adjustments, modifications to equipment, machinery, wiring, piping, etc. as directed.
  • Perform basic welding and machining tasks, read blueprints, drawings and plans.
  • Read work orders, blueprints, drawings and plans, perform installations, fabrications and maintain the maintenance log book.
  • Inspect work and work area, perform clean‑up using proper tools and equipment and according to approved methods and procedures.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor.
  • At end of shift, secure all equipment, complete all required paperwork, perform general housekeeping and clean‑up as required.
Measurable Outcomes
  • Equipment Uptime: Measure and maximize the availability and uptime of critical facility equipment, minimizing downtime due to breakdowns or repairs.
  • Preventive Maintenance Completion: Ensure that scheduled preventive maintenance tasks are completed on time for all equipment and systems, reducing the risk of unexpected failures.
  • Response Time: Monitor and minimize response times to maintenance requests, addressing urgent issues promptly to prevent disruptions.
  • Work Order Efficiency: Track the efficiency of work order completion, including the time it takes to complete maintenance tasks, from request to resolution.
  • Energy Efficiency: Implement energy‑saving measures and maintenance practices to reduce energy consumption and operational costs within the facility.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations and best practices, minimizing safety incidents and hazards.
  • Cost Control: Manage maintenance budgets effectively, tracking expenses related to parts, labor, and equipment purchases to optimize cost control.
