- Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plan corrective action.
- Make necessary corrections and run adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
- Test equipment to verify proper operation.
- Clear jams and set aside product for inspection and rework.
- Test equipment after repairs, changeovers, or extended downtime to ensure proper operation.
- Examine, test, and measure product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and record data on appropriate forms.
- Make preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, report findings to supervisor, and take appropriate action.
- Examine defects and analyze spoilage causes where possible to take corrective action.
- Analyze and record cause of production delays on daily production reports.
- Notify the maintenance department or supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions, quality problems, or supplies needed and take corrective action.
- Instruct and direct any maintenance trainees assigned.
- Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment, listening for unusual sounds to detect malfunction.
- Discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
- Make repairs to machinery in cold storage.
- Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Lie out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Perform other assigned duties and/or projects to support business needs.
- High School/GED or one to two years’ experience in a related field or a combination of education and experience.
- Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility, including a clean driving record verified through a background check.
Skills and Abilities
- Willingness to work rotating shifts on a continuous, seven‑day cycle.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness when completing work tasks.
- Ability to use hand tools and trade‑type tools.
- Ability to read and understand equipment and technical manuals.
- Clear and concise communication skills.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during assigned responsibilities.
- Five or more years of experience in a related field.
- Environmental exposure to cold/wet conditions (40 °F or below); work in the warehouse building as well as all facilities (indoor and outdoor).
- Material exposure to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 55 lbs.
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, using 3‑point contact on a regular basis for assigned duties.
- Ability to use hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, and handle scanning objects in one position or in repetitive motion for an extended period.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- 3rd Shift – Friday through Tuesday from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM; overtime, weekends, and holidays may be mandatory based on business needs. Rotating workday/time‑off schedules may also be mandatory depending on department/business needs.
