ExaminationAppraisal (Weight 100%) will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any combination of the following: investigation, oral exam and rating of the application. If an oral exam is necessary, it will be weighted 100%.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards- One (1) year of experience inspecting, testing, repairing and maintaining specialized emergency services equipment.
- Qualifying related work experience may include inspection, maintenance and repair of self‑contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), high pressure air compressors, hydraulic rescue tools, personal protective equipment (PPE); and the installation and maintenance of specialized fire equipment on fire apparatus.
- Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license at the time of appointment.
- Valid California Class B Commercial Driver's license (failure to obtain licensure will result in termination of employment).
- First Responder Maintenance and Repair Respiratory Protection Equipment Certificate as required by the manufacturer (failure to obtain licensure will result in termination of employment).
- Care and Maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment Certificate as required by the manufacturer (failure to obtain licensure will result in termination of employment).
- Maintenance and Repair of Rescue Equipment Certificate as required by the manufacturer (failure to obtain licensure will result in termination of employment).
