American Bath Group is building dependable in-house field-repair coverage in the Bakersfield area. This role is for a hands-on technician who can diagnose issues, complete finish-sensitive repairs safely, manage a mobile territory with limited daily supervision, and close every visit with clear documentation and a professional customer experience.
The opportunityYou will represent American Bath Group in homes, active job sites, warehouses, and builder or plumbing environments. Your work directly affects product quality, warranty cost, repeat visits, and customer trust. The goal is straightforward: diagnose the real issue, choose the right repair approach, complete the work to a right-first-time standard, and provide clear visibility from assignment through customer sign-off.
This is a field-based operator role—not a dispatch, estimating, or desk-based warranty position. You will personally perform the repair work and independently manage the practical details that keep a territory reliable.
What you will own- Diagnose service issues. Separate product defects from installation or adjacent-system problems, test assumptions, identify root cause, and select the appropriate repair or escalation path.
- Perform hands-on repairs. Complete structural and finish-sensitive work using methods such as surface preparation, sanding, buffing, fillers, paint, fiberglass/acrylic repair, refinishing, plumbing repair, or comparable craft techniques.
- Protect first-time quality. Inspect your work, correct ordinary defects, respond constructively to feedback, and prevent workmanship-related callbacks.
- Run the territory. Plan appointments and travel, prioritize work, account for parts and customer availability, maintain tools/materials/inventory, communicate constraints, and reliably close standard work within the 14-day service expectation.
- Work safely. Use company-approved PPE, tools, chemicals, dust/fume controls, respirator practices, housekeeping, and vehicle procedures; stop or escalation work when conditions are unsafe or outside authorization.
- Protect the customer environment. Set up carefully, prevent collateral damage or contamination, maintain professional conduct, explain the plan and result, clean the work area, and obtain customer confirmation.
- Create complete remote visibility. Use email, before/after photos, repair details, material and status updates, escalation notes, and customer sign-off so remote partners can verify quality and closure.
- Repairs meet ABG quality expectations the first time and do not generate preventable workmanship callbacks.
- Standard assignments move to closure within the 14-day service expectation, with delays surfaced early and recovered responsibly.
- The Bakersfield territory is organized: appointments, routing, travel, vehicle, tools, materials, and inventory stay under control.
- Customers experience a careful, professional technician who protects their space, explains the work, and leaves the site clean.
- Every completed job has an accurate record—photos, diagnosis, work performed, materials, sign-off, final status, and any needed escalation.
- New products, materials, and repair methods are learned quickly and applied safely.
- Demonstrated hands-on repair craftsmanship in bathware, fiberglass/acrylic, automotive or marine body work, refinishing, plumbing, installation, maintenance, construction, or another transferable field.
- A repeatable troubleshooting approach and the judgment to distinguish symptoms from root causes.
- Experience managing an independent field, route, territory, installation, maintenance, or mobile service workload with limited daily supervision.
- Comfort working in occupied homes and finish-sensitive customer environments.
- Clear written communication and dependable use of email, photographs, service…
