Crane Operator
Total-Western, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and certified Crane Operator to join our team. The Certified Crane Operator will be responsible for operating various types of cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment. This role is critical to the successful execution of construction and maintenance projects, requiring precision, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to operate cranes in challenging environments.

Crane Operation:
- Safely operate various types of cranes, including mobile, tower, and overhead cranes, to lift and move materials and equipment.
- Execute lifts according to job plans and engineering specifications, ensuring compliance with load charts and operational limits.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections and perform routine maintenance checks on cranes to ensure they are in safe working condition.
Load Management:
- Calculate load weights, select appropriate rigging, and ensure proper balance and secure attachment of loads.
- Communicate with rigging crew and signalers to coordinate movements and ensure the safe handling of materials.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations to prevent accidents and injuries during crane operations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate hazards associated with crane operations.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of crane operations, including lift plans, inspection logs, and incident reports.
- Provide regular updates to supervisors and project managers on crane activities and any operational issues.
Team
Collaboration:
- Work closely with project teams, including riggers, signalers, and engineers, to ensure coordinated and efficient crane operations.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to discussions on improving crane operation practices.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about industry best practices and advancements in crane technology.
- Participate in training programs and certification updates to enhance skills and maintain compliance with safety standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Certification:
Valid crane operator certification (NCCCO or equivalent) is required. - Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience operating cranes in industrial, construction, or maintenance environments. - Technical
Skills:
Proficiency in operating various types of cranes and understanding load charts, rigging practices, and safety regulations. - Communication
Skills:
Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and follow instructions accurately. - Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, lifting, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
Preferred Experience:
- Industry
Experience:
Experience in operating cranes within the oil and gas, power generation, or manufacturing industries. - Technical Knowledge:
Familiarity with advanced crane technologies and automation systems. - Specialized
Skills:
Additional certifications in rigging, signaling, or heavy equipment operation.
