OpConnect is hiring a hands-on Field Service Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain EV charging stations throughout the Bakersfield-Palmdale region
.
We're looking for a California-certified General Electrician with strong electrical troubleshooting skills who enjoys working independently and being out in the field.
When you're not traveling to customer sites, you'll currently work from home. OpConnect is in the process of establishing a Southern California facility/warehouse, and once operational, technicians will work from that location when not in the field.
EV charging experience is strongly preferred, but EVITP certification is not required to apply.
What You’ll Do- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain EV charging stations / EVSE
. - Diagnose electrical and electromechanical issues using multimeters, diagnostic equipment, and hand tools.
- Perform preventive maintenance and root-cause troubleshooting.
- Configure charger settings and troubleshoot Wi-Fi, cellular, and network connectivity
. - Troubleshoot building electrical and low-voltage wiring.
- Communicate with customers and property managers regarding repairs and service status.
- Document service calls, repairs, parts used, photos, and resolution notes.
- Work with the Field Service Lead and technical support team to resolve complex issues.
- Hands-on electrical troubleshooting and repair experience
- Knowledge of building electrical and low-voltage wiring
- Experience using multimeters and electrical hand/diagnostic tools
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel until a company vehicle is provided
- Comfortable with extensive field travel, including occasional overnight travel
- Ability to work independently and provide professional customer service
- Flexibility for occasional evening or weekend service needs
- EV charging station /
EVSE installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, or repair experience - EVITP certification or eligibility to obtain certification
- Electrical or industrial field service experience
- Experience troubleshooting Wi-Fi, cellular modems, switches, or other network-connected equipment
This position is currently home-based when you're not traveling to customer sites. There is no daily Southern California office commute at this time.
OpConnect is currently working to establish a facility/warehouse in Southern California
. Once operational, technicians will transition to working from that location when not servicing customer sites.
This is a highly mobile position with up to 85% field travel.
OpConnect plans to provide a company service vehicle in the near future. Until then, technicians must have a reliable personal vehicle and will be compensated for gas and mileage for work-related travel.
