This recruitment is for a position that will work in the East Kern Region locations include Ridgecrest, Inyokern, Mojave and Lake Isabella
. Candidates must indicate their willingness to work in Ridgecrest, Inyokern, Mojave or Lake Isabella or their application will be rejected. Candidates MUST be willing to travel to these locations.
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent and three years of clerical, general computer and office experience directly related to the area of assignment.
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Additional RequirementsSome Positions May Require:
- Possession of a Valid California Driver's License.
- Proficiency in the use of word processing software, such as Microsoft Word and Word Perfect.

Office Services Specialist
Written Exam (Weight 100%):
Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of statistical methods; data compilation methods; inventory maintenance principles; customer service principles; standard office procedures, methods, and equipment; transcription methods; basic filing and record keeping principles; basic mathematical concepts;
English language, grammar, and punctuation.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on the examination.
This position works in various departments throughout Kern County.

Employees who occupy positions designated as bilingual are paid dependent upon the required level of proficiency.
Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
