Position

Assistant Coach

Part Time, Exempt, Seasonal

Reports to: Head Coach

Education/Experience Required/Preferred: A High School Diploma degree is required.

Pay Range: $100 - $2,500 (This is the expected range and is dependent on qualifications and position.)

General Responsibilities

As an Assistant Coach, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach with organizing the program. The position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.

Specific Responsibilities

• Assists the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.
• Assesses players skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of students.
• Assists with determining game strategy.
• Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
• Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
• Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
• Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach.
• Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
• Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, Principal or other appropriate administrator.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level
• Possess knowledge in the sport, including, but not limited to strategy, skill building, practice and game planning
• Communicate effectively and positively with students, parents, and other coaches
• Work cooperatively with others as part of a team
• Ability to exemplify high Christian ideals in a spirit of cooperativeness with integrity

This position reports directly to the Head Coach and is a seasonal, stipend position.
