Truck Washer​/Yard Assistant - CA

Description

A Truck Washer / Yard Assistant is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the appearance of Ten West's fleet, including heavy-duty wreckers, semi-trucks, tractor-trailers, light- and medium-duty trucks, construction vehicles, and other company equipment.

This position is primarily based at the company's yard and is responsible for helping maintain the high standards of cleanliness, appearance, and operational readiness expected of the Ten West fleet. The employee will use brushes, cloths, pressure washers, hoses, soaps, cleaners, and other appropriate equipment to clean company vehicles and equipment.

The normal work schedule for this position is 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday

• Wash and dry light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks, wreckers, trailers, and other company equipment.
• Clean wheels, tires, undercarriages, exterior surfaces, and other areas of company vehicles as needed.
• Clean vehicle interiors when assigned.
• Polish metal and chrome components as needed.
• Wax painted surfaces periodically and as directed.
• Maintain a regular washing schedule to ensure company vehicles remain clean and presentable.
• Prioritize washing assignments based on operational needs and supervisor direction.
• Inspect completed work to ensure vehicles meet company cleanliness and appearance standards.
• Maintain the truck wash area, equipment, hoses, cleaning supplies, and tools in a clean and organized condition.
• Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and organized yard.
• Pick up trash, debris, materials, and equipment throughout the yard as needed.
• Assist other employees with general yard duties and basic operational tasks.
• Help stage, organize, move, load, or unload materials and equipment as directed.
• Occasionally accompany operations personnel to assist with transloads
  , including handling, moving, organizing, loading, or unloading freight and materials.
• Assist with maintaining company vehicles and equipment in a state of readiness for operational use.
• Communicate with supervisors regarding completed work, equipment condition, needed supplies, or issues identified while cleaning equipment.
• Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required personal protective equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on operational needs.

Requirements

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

• Ability to safely work around commercial vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Willingness to perform outdoor and physical work.
• Previous truck washing, detailing, yard, warehouse, or general labor experience is preferred but not required.

The employee must be able to:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Bend, kneel, squat, reach, push, pull, and climb as required to clean vehicles and equipment.
• Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Safely operate pressure washers, hoses, and cleaning equipment.
• Work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Work around water, cleaning products, grease, dirt, commercial vehicles, and heavy equipment.
