• Perform general construction work under the direction of a foreman/supervisor.
• Hand dig holes and trenches with a shovel and other hand tools.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of underground cable locating.
• Operate various types of trucks and equipment.
• Transport equipment and materials.
• Install underground telecommunications cabling.
• Flag traffic and set up safety perimeter using signage, cones, and safety barriers.
• Perform daily walkarounds and alert mechanics of any defects.
• Communicate effectively with customers and employees.

• Climb into and out of equipment (cars, trucks, backhoes, trenchers, etc).
• Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery.
• Know and obey all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Rules and Regulations.
• Endure repetitive motion with hand, wrist, feet, head, and shoulder.
• Be able to work outdoors in a diverse environment.
• Work in congested and remote areas.
• Work while standing or sitting for several hours at a time.
• Work in small or sometimes confined areas.
• Work at variable heights and depths.
• Lift or carry up to 75+ pounds.
• Reach, bend, and stoop while performing work.
• Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
• Willing to travel; this position requires occasional out‑of‑town assignments.
