Position: Intern (Housing)

INTERN (HOUSING)

HOURLY RATE - $18.90 - $19.67

Approximately 20 hours per week. Must be available to work between 7:30am - 6:00pm, Monday - Thursday.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND HOURS

This is a part‑time, non‑benefited “at‑will” position with working hours assigned at the discretion of the Housing Division. Applicants must be available on average 20 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, 7:30am–6:00pm. Employee shall not work in excess of 960 total hours per fiscal year.

THE POSITION

Under direct supervision, the Housing Intern will perform a variety of responsible administrative and clerical duties supporting the Housing Division, including data entry, report development, records maintenance, file organization, mail handling, telephone assistance, file updates, site visits support, referral services, customer inquiries, report preparation, correspondence, citizen assistance, and other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, problem‑solving, and conceptual skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of statistical and accounting functions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel (advanced knowledge highly desirable).
  • Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions; communicate clearly, concisely, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi‑task, be detail oriented, effectively prioritize, and adapt flexibly to changing priorities.
  • Excellent customer service skills for receptionist duties, including answering phones, greeting customers, and relaying messages.
  • Respond to questions from internal and external customers promptly and professionally.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university with a major in public or business administration, real estate, or a closely related field; or a recent graduate (within the last 12 months) with a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • One (1) year of increasingly responsible general clerical experience is highly desirable; experience working in the public sector is also highly desirable.
  • Applicants must submit proof of current enrollment or a copy of their degree.
