Metal Fabrication Technician
Lawrence Doors, Inc., a leader in the commercial door industry, is seeking a Metal Fabrication Technician to work in our Production Line. Must be dependable, mechanical, able to read dimensions and use a tape measure.
The Metal Fabrication Technician is responsible for performing various fabrication and assembly tasks related to the production of commercial roll-up door components. Depending on assignment, the technician may work on barrel fabrication or wall guide fabrication. Tasks may include cutting, welding, machining, punching, and assembling metal parts.
Key responsibilities (based on assignment) include:
- Cutting steel tubing, profiles, sheet metal, or channels to specified dimensions.
- Performing MIG welding on structural components such as barrels or guide assemblies.
- Operating lathes, end mills, and presses to modify parts including shafts, tube, and guide structures.
- Punching holes and slots in metal components using mechanical or hydraulic equipment.
- Preparing and installing torsion springs according to specifications.
- Assembling metal parts using hand and power tools.
- Inspecting fabricated components for accuracy, quality, and structural integrity.
- Documenting work performed and reporting any issues or deviations.
- Regularly lifting and handling materials weighing over 40 lbs.
- Following safety procedures and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Job requirements include:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in metal fabrication, welding, or machining.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience with MIG welding and fabrication machinery is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to different fabrication tasks.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Compensation: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour (depending on experience.)
