Machine Operator – Saw Operator

This role operates and maintains industrial saws and related production machinery to cut materials according to precise work orders and specifications. You will set up equipment, use measurement tools to ensure accuracy, handle materials safely with forklifts or other moving equipment, and follow all safety procedures while supporting general production needs.

Operate industrial saws, including band saws and other cutting equipment, to process materials according to work orders, tolerances, and specifications.

Set up machines, including blades, guards, stops, feeding devices, and coolant flow, to ensure accurate and efficient cutting operations.

Read and interpret work orders, cutting instructions, blueprints, and computer-based instructions to determine correct measurements, cutting sequences, and material requirements.

Use measurement tools, such as tape measures and other measuring devices, to verify dimensions and ensure materials meet required tolerances.

Properly load and secure materials on saws using forklifts or other moving equipment, following safe material-handling procedures.

Monitor saw operation during production to ensure proper blade performance, coolant flow, and cutting quality, making adjustments as needed.

Change saw blades and perform basic machine adjustments as required to maintain cutting quality and minimize downtime.

Perform general production tasks in support of the manufacturing process, including staging materials, assisting with workflow, and maintaining organized work areas.

Clean saws and associated equipment at the end of each shift to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable operation.

Follow all personal and facility safety procedures and practices, including proper use of guards, personal protective equipment, and safe operating techniques.

Work overtime as required to meet production schedules and customer demands.

Ability to read and understand work orders and cutting instructions, both in written form and within a computer program.

Proficiency in using measurement tools, including tape measures and other measuring devices, to verify dimensions and tolerances.

Knowledge of saw concepts, practices, and procedures, including operation of band saws and other industrial saws.

Ability to set up machines, including blades, guards, stops, feeding devices, and coolant flow, for accurate cutting operations.

Ability to properly load material on saws using forklifts or other moving equipment in a safe and controlled manner.

Knowledge of changing blades on saws and performing basic machine adjustments as needed.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, or specifications related to cutting and production requirements.

Ability to adhere to personal and facility safety procedures and practices at all times.

Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.

Forklift experience is a plus and will support safe and efficient material handling.

Experience in general production or manufacturing environments is beneficial.

Machine operation, particularly with saws or band saws, is highly advantageous.

Familiarity with basic computer programs used to display work orders or cutting instructions is helpful.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Baldwin Park, CA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $45.00/hr.
