Job Summary:

As a member of the reclamation and/or aggregate crew, the Equipment Operator is expected to safely and efficiently operate various pieces of mobile equipment. Activities include completing pre-trip/post-trip inspections, and operating equipment while completing site related reclamation, production, and sales activities. As a member of the team, the equipment operator may be required to assist with maintenance, repair, operations, and housekeeping around the plant as requested by Reclamation Superintendent or Aggregate Manager.

Shift: 12:00pm - 8:30pm
* With overtime and weekend work requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

• Complete daily pre/ post equipment inspections - report as needed
• Ensure areas under your scope of responsibility remain in environmental compliance and complete any needed environmental reports
• Ensure fill is placed in accordance with Fill Operating Plan (FOP) and regulatory guidelines
• Ensure site remains compliant with all MSHA, OSHA and EPA standards
• Inspect equipment prior to shift for safety, environmental and maintenance defects
• Inspect wear items on equipment & report as needed to shop, foreman, and management
• Load hoppers and trucks with limited spillage
• Maintain adequate cleanliness of equipment
• Perform housekeeping (clean, shovel, remove trash and debris) to ensure a safe, clean and compliant operation
• Report any defects to shop, foreman and management
• Monitor ground conditions in area you are operating
• Other duties as assigned

Education and/or

Work Experience:

• 3-5 years previous mobile equipment operational experience on various models of bull dozers, excavators, loaders, blades, RTD's
• For Excavators
  - Must be able to set and load trucks efficiently to optimize production and be able of utilizing rock breaker and/or processor attachments
• For Dozers
  - Must be able to carry a flat grade and adapt to fluctuating terrain including steep slopes. Be able to finish slopes with a slope board.
• For Loaders
  - Must be able to minimize overloading of customer's trucks and remaining compliant with DOT weight restrictions
• For RTD
  - Must be able to carry, cut and fill grade as needed and re-grade stakes. Must be able to coordinate and import trucks for proper placement on fill. Must be able to operate machine with little or no supervision Must be able to read grade stakes and carry a grade
• Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive company vehicle
• Must understand all of your controls and have experience with various types of equipment accessories/blades/attachments
• Use bucket scales to optimize truck loading

• Ability to understand and follow Company Handbook and Safety Policies
• Ability to work well with others
• Must be able to follow oral and written plans and directions
• Must have a strong mechanical aptitude
• Must have a strong, team-oriented work ethic with strong focus on safety and environmental compliance
• Preferred knowledge of GPS
• Understands MSHA and OSHA regulations

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to utilize hands and fingers in order to type and carry reports should the need require
• Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands throughout the workday should the need arise
• Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch should the need arise
• Ability to sit for a long period of time, possibly more than 90% of the workday
• Ability to see clearly or with assistance via necessary correction
