Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to join a leading acute care hospital in Baldwin Park, CA. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality emergency nursing care to patients with a wide range of medical, surgical, and traumatic conditions in a fast-paced Emergency Department. This role requires excellent critical thinking, rapid assessment skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and prioritize care using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) and evidence-based nursing practices.
- Deliver safe, timely, and compassionate nursing care to patients with medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological, pediatric, and traumatic emergencies.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and emergency treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Initiate and maintain peripheral IV access, monitor patient responses, and perform continuous reassessments.
- Recognize and respond promptly to life-threatening emergencies, including Code Blue, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, trauma, and rapid response situations.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret dysrhythmias while collaborating with physicians to implement appropriate interventions.
- Assist with emergency procedures including conscious sedation, wound care, splinting, trauma stabilization, and resuscitation.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, EMS personnel, case management, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, medication administration, and clinical outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, Joint Commission requirements, and patient safety initiatives.
- Minimum 1 year of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time Emergency Room RN experience.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or related field.
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification preferred.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification preferred.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias.
- Experience in a high-volume acute care Emergency Department.
- Experience with Epic or other electronic medical record systems preferred.
