Are you a dedicated professional passionate about fire safety and engineering? The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced Fire Protection/Sprinkler System Engineer to join our Building and Fire Protection Engineering team in West Milton, NY!
As a Fire Protection/Sprinkler System Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Support the development of new construction and building modifications.
- Contribute to the development of project scopes and maintain oversight through design and execution.
- Support the engineering team as a subject matter expert in fire protection.
- Review new construction and building modifications for code compliance to support beneficial occupancy.
- Provide oversight of the Inspection, Testing and Maintenance Programs for fire protection systems.
- Perform code evaluations in support of site operations.
- Provide oversight of fire code deficiencies to ensure prompt resolution.
- Provide guidance and training in the design of fire protection/sprinkler systems to more junior staff.
- Support key deliverables in our fire protection program like the development of our 10 year plan, fire hazard analysis and facilities assessments.
This position will require the Engineer to interact with multiple organizations, project execution teams, systems engineers, building owners and code officials to ensure code compliant design and construction. The successful candidate should be comfortable working in a self-directed environment and mentoring more junior engineers within the team. RequiredCombination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

- Experience with NFPA 13, 25, 72
- Experience with the development of construction documents (drawings, specifications, cost estimates)
- Experience with design and maintenance of fire protection systems
- Experience leading engineering teams
