Quality Control Technician

The Quality Control Technician ensures that all products and processes meet rigorous customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards within an electronics manufacturing environment. This role serves as a key quality liaison for customer projects, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and helps maintain compliance with ISO and other industry standards in the transit and rail sector.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary quality liaison for customers on all matters related to assigned projects, providing clear and timely communication.
  • Drive resolution of customer audit findings and ensure prompt feedback and updates to customers.
  • Participate in customer audits, meetings, and inspections, both on-site and in the field, as required by project needs.
  • Ensure that all delivered products meet customer specifications, contractual requirements, and internal quality standards.
  • Maintain and oversee compliance with ISO standards, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Report to senior leadership on the performance of the quality management system, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure that quality processes are implemented, monitored, and continuously improved across the production and inspection workflow.
  • Review and validate test procedures and reports to confirm proper completion, accuracy, and traceability.
  • Conduct first article inspections (FAI) for components related to electronic projects to verify conformance before production release.
  • Perform supplier audits and evaluations to ensure adherence to established quality standards and requirements.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce processes for identifying, controlling, and dispositioning non-conforming materials.
  • Lead or support corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues, including root cause analysis and follow-up verification.
  • Inspect incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and outgoing products to ensure compliance with technical documentation and specifications.
  • Maintain, update, and organize quality records within SAP or related ERP systems to ensure accurate documentation and traceability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen and Six Sigma activities to enhance product quality and process efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and support new product introductions.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in quality assurance within automotive, transit/rail, or aerospace and defense industries.
  • Prior experience managing or supporting quality programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with quality assurance, quality engineering, and quality control activities.
  • Strong background in inspection and quality inspection methods for electronic components and assemblies.
  • Experience with supplier quality management, including supplier audits and evaluations.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO quality management systems, including compliance and certification support.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Familiarity with electronics manufacturing processes and standards, including IPC-related practices.
  • Experience using SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for quality records and data management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience combined with an engineering degree in Industrial, Systems, or Electrical Engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in electronics manufacturing for the automotive, transit, or rail industry.
  • Exposure to the transit and rail industry, including passenger information and onboard systems.
  • Knowledge of Kaizen and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma or 6 Sigma tools and techniques for process and quality improvement.
  • Understanding of ISO quality frameworks and their application in a manufacturing environment.
