About you
- Proven experience as a professional mechanic, ideally within a fleet or plant maintenance environment
- Strong knowledge of vehicle inspection, servicing, and repairs
- Skilled in diagnostic techniques including computer-based diagnostics
- Ability to assess bodywork issues and advise on repairs
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Mechanics
- A valid driving licence suitable for working within a fleet environment
What you’ll do
- Thoroughly examine and inspect vehicles and equipment, reporting findings and making recommendations
- Service, repair, and prepare vehicles for PSV/MOT testing in accordance with safety regulations
- Conduct routine repairs and major services on grounds maintenance equipment
- Use diagnostic tools to identify faults and recommend improvements to enhance safety and reliability
- Assess and carry out bodywork repairs where necessary
- Recover broken-down vehicles using safe, proper techniques to minimise further damage
- Fabricate simple component parts as needed using appropriate tools and materials
- Ensure parts are correctly identified to enable timely ordering, reducing operational downtime
