Ci Design, Inc. is a dynamic, highly collaborative architectural firm providing architecture, planning, and interior design services to clients domestically and internationally. We are growing rapidly and looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to work full-time in our Baltimore office.
In this role you will be responsible for keeping financial records, preparing reports, communicating with clients, and updating financial information. The ideal candidate will be able to process business transactions, handle accounts payable and receivable, expense reports, receipts, payroll administration, support financial reporting and audits, and assist with budgeting and forecasting. This role requires a detail‑oriented, proactive professional with a strong background in accounting, preferably within an architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) firm.
The ideal candidate will work closely with senior leadership to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency.
- Oversee and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions
- Ensure accurate coding, data entry, and transaction processing for financial activities
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month‑end close reports
- Prepare payroll processing and administration as needed
- Assist with financial reporting, audits, forecasts, and budgeting processes
- Reconcile credit card transactions and manage vendor payments
- Create cash account journal entries including loans, taxes, bank fees, and 401(k) deductions
- Monitor vendor statements and manage collections efforts for accounts receivable
- Maintain compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and industry best practices
- Collaborate with project managers and leadership to ensure accurate project‑based accounting and invoicing
- Evaluate and improve financial processes and reporting systems
- Coordinate with our bank and external accounting firm to ensure efficient financial operations and compliance
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and assist with generating analysis spreadsheets
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 10-12 years of accounting experience, preferably in an architecture, engineering, or professional services firm
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, financial reporting, and reconciliation best practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Unanet, or other ERP/CRM financial systems
- Experience with financial audits, compliance, and reporting standards
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently under deadlines
