Non-Profit Senior Accountant Consultant

Non-Profit Organization | Baltimore, MD (Hybrid – 2 Days In Office)$40–$53 per hour (DOE) | Temporary Engagement | Potential for Permanent Placement

Our client, a respected and mission-driven non-profit organization in Baltimore, is seeking a strong Senior Accountant Consultant to support the Assistant Controller and Finance team during a key transition period. This hands‑on role requires a seasoned accounting professional who can step in quickly, manage core accounting functions, and contribute to audit readiness and operational efficiency.

• Review and process vendor invoices and employee expense reports; ensure proper authorization and coding.
• Prepare and file Forms 1099 accurately and timely.
• Manage customer invoicing, AR follow‑up, and cash receipt application.
• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with monthly and annual close deadlines.
• Perform bank reconciliations and comprehensive balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Support fixed asset management and lease accounting entries.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls across AP, AR, and GL functions.
• Prepare audit schedules and support financial statement audit requests.
• Identify and recommend process improvements to reduce manual workflows.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• 4–6+ years of accounting experience; non‑profit experience required.
• Experience with private/restricted grants and fund accounting.
• Strong month‑end close, journal entry, and reconciliation experience.
• Audit preparation and financial statement support experience.
• Ability to manage high‑volume transactions in deadline‑driven environments.
• Experience with Sage Intacct preferred;  and ADP experience a plus.
• Public accounting or outsourced accounting background highly desirable.
