The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting month‑end and year‑end close processes. This role often acts as a subject‑matter expert, supports junior accounting staff, and collaborates with cross‑functional teams to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency
Key Responsibilities- Perform and oversee general ledger accounting, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations.
- Manage month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Conduct variance analysis and prepare monthly management reports.
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies.
- Support external and internal audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance.
- Oversee or perform accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and cash management activities as needed.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and cash‑flow reporting.
- Handle fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, and asset tracking.
- Participate in process improvement, automation initiatives, and system enhancements (ERP or financial systems).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA‑track preferred but not required.
- 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting processes.
- Proficiency with Excel and accounting systems (e.g., Net Suite, Quick Books, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
