Introduction
The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA) serves as one of the largest revenue sources for the State of Maryland, supporting important state programs and services including education, public health and safety, human resources and the environment. In addition to generating revenue from the sale of lottery products, the MLGCA is responsible for the oversight of the state’s casino gaming program, providing direction and guidance to its casino partners on financial, security, regulatory and licensing procedures for the facilities.
The Agency also regulates sports wagering, daily fantasy sports and electronic bingo, as well as instant ticket lottery machines, which are located at almost ninety veteran posts. Gaming in Maryland is a dynamic and growing business that operates around the clock, 365 days of the year.

- Assist and support the VLT Accountant Supervisor with day‑to‑day operations of the Video Lottery Terminal (VLT) activity.
- Perform daily calculation and reconciliation of gross terminal revenue and table game revenue.
- Release licensing batches and prepare reports for submission to various entities.
- Assist with collection, deposit, and reconciliation of VLT facility payments in accordance with applicable law.
- Verify timely remittance of funds and contact VLT facilities daily regarding amounts due to the State.
- Prepare daily reconciliations between VLT facilities’ in‑house systems and the Lottery’s Central Computer System, investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Calculate distribution of proceeds to the various funds as defined by law and prepare the required paperwork to facilitate the distributions.
- Provide monthly press release and dashboard information for each facility to Communications for public dissemination.
- Maintain a daily spreadsheet of all gross terminal revenue and table game revenue for weekly submission to various entities.
- Reconcile with the Licensing Division cash received for license fees to ensure proper payment prior to investigation start.
- Reconcile the Casino and CRC Working Fund.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing. - Experience:
Three years of experience examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting systems, records and reports applying generally accepted accounting principles. - Substitution/Alternatives:
- A Bachelor’s degree with 30 credit hours in accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing may substitute for the required education.
- Candidates who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement.
- Possession of a CPA certificate or a master’s degree in accounting may substitute for one year of the required experience.
- One year of professional auditing experience may substitute for one year of required experience.
- U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Accounting Officer classification or Financial Management specialty codes in the accounting field may substitute for one year of required experience and education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in casino financial operations.
- Experience processing financial account reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel.
