Job Summary
The Senior Grants Accountant position is responsible for providing support in the areas of accounting, grants management, statistical reporting, and preparation of monthly/annual journal entries, various reconciliations, grant financial reports and analysis. Also responsible for collecting pertinent information for third party audits, oversee grant financial reporting and operations and will be the first point of contact for grant accounting issues. Contacts and interactions vary and may involve multiple constituencies such as direct interaction with THC’s executive management, the general public, THC’s patients, physicians, colleagues, assigned staff, vendors, contractors and consultants for the purpose of providing and exchanging grant and other grant related information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepare monthly accounting related journal entries for various grants
- Follow company’s established accounting processes
- Prepares required schedules for general ledger accounts
- Reviews, analyzes and reconciles general ledger account activities
- Maintain detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
- Provide detailed analyses and explanations of transactions
- Prepare documentation for external auditors and grantors
- Other duties as assigned
- Analyzes various grantor revenue and expenditure reports and make appropriate recommendations to ensure compliance with budgeted projections and grant provisions
- Prepare grant billing reimbursement invoices, monitor, and review accounts receivable for collection purposes for HRSA 330 Grant, Ryan White Part A, Ryan White Part B, Ryan White Part C and other private grants
- Complies and analyzes financial data for preparation of various costing, monthly and/or quarterly reports to federal, state and other related agencies for grant activities
- Develop budgets for grant applications, modifications and reporting as required
- Support and communicate directly with auditors and grantors as needed
- Member of the Accounting Team
- Develop accounting policy and procedures to match best practices for internal control purposes
- Effectively manage and utilize various accounting, fundraising, electronic health record software, and Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point
- BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in General Accounting and Grant Accounting/Management strongly preferred
- 5+ years’ experience in accounting strongly preferred
- Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center or non-profit is required
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of FQHC operations, operating principles, guidelines and bylaws. Excellent leadership, customer service, organizational and presentation skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate THC’s vision, and motivate others to achieve it organizationally, departmentally, and personally/professionally. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing). Has the ability to plan and organize work initiatives to successfully accomplish center/organizational goals and objectives.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and delegate as appropriate. Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Ability to identify, develop and implement short/long‑term strategic goals and objectives. Ability to develop and maintain customer relationships; influence, build credibility and trust. Ability to think critically as well as apply critical thinking skills. Ability to: ensure and advocate for quality healthcare and services; and, lead and manage a diverse staff.
