Waters Advanced Diagnostics Analyst, Revenue Accounting
The Waters Advanced Diagnostics Analyst, Revenue Accounting, is primarily responsible for supporting the Associate Director, Revenue Recognition & General Accounting and collaborating with the revenue recognition accounting team. The Analyst supports revenue recognition activities for the U.S. Advanced Diagnostics business, including preparation, analysis, and utilization of BOT output files for revenue recognition software, maintenance of supporting documentation, and interaction with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
This role requires strong Excel skills to build, enhance, and review revenue recognition support files using advanced formulas, perform ad hoc analysis, and support audit-ready documentation.
The main responsibilities of this role include preparing sales contract arrangement line items and compiling recognition and purchase events for monthly upload into the revenue recognition system. The Analyst is also responsible for preparing account reconciliations and supporting participation in audits and cross-functional projects. This role requires exercising professional judgment, maintaining audit-ready documentation, and managing assigned responsibilities with increasing independence.
Responsibilities:
- Perform revenue recognition analysis, documentation, and journal entries for customer contracts in accordance with ASC 606 and ASC 842
- Prepare and review account reconciliations, support monthly reporting activities, and collaborate with auditors to fulfill audit requests
- Interact regularly with Contracts, Marketing, and other internal teams
- Support and cross-train on ERP-based tracking for shipments, costs, and placed instruments to ensure accurate ASC 842 instrument classification
- Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy
- Perform ad hoc reporting, projects and analyses as required
Minimum Requirements:
- Demonstrate solid understanding of accounting principles with ability to independently analyze and interpret financial data. Must support revenue recognition processes and monthly close activities with precision and accuracy.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP required, with specific preference for experience in revenue recognition under ASC 606 and/or lease accounting under ASC 842. Must maintain audit-ready documentation and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to assess data accuracy through comprehensive reasonableness checks and reconciliation procedures. Must maintain high standards for financial information quality and consistency.
- Effectively partner with diverse stakeholders including Finance, Contracts, Marketing teams, and external auditors. Must navigate complex interdepartmental relationships to ensure alignment on financial reporting objectives.
- Strong analytical capabilities paired with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must organize and document financial information clearly while demonstrating a proactive, adaptable approach to evolving business needs.
Preferred Requirements:
- B.S. degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- CPA, CA, MBA, or progress toward a professional certification is a plus
- 2+ years of relevant accounting or finance experience in public accounting or an industry accounting role preferred
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Independent, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., SAP), CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce), and reporting or analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Power Point
