Job Description
Jewish Community Services (JCS) provides programs and services for people of all ages and backgrounds, helping them achieve their goals, enhance their wellbeing, and maximize their independence.
We are seeking a part‑time Accounting Intern to join our team. This internship is 20 hours per week and is ideal for accounting or finance students seeking meaningful, resume‑building experience.
Knowledge and Skills- Working knowledge of basic accounting principles (debits/credits, accruals, journal entries)
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, basic formulas, reconciliations, data analysis)
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies
- Understanding of general ledger structure and account classifications
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to manage confidential financial information with discretion
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication
Current junior, senior, or graduate student pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. Strong academic performance in intermediate accounting coursework encouraged.
Experience- Coursework in Financial Accounting and/or Intermediate Accounting required
- Exposure to Accounts Payable, General Ledger reconciliation, or month‑end close processes preferred
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Quick Books, MIP, or similar ERP systems) is a plus
- Experience supporting grant budgets or fund accounting is a plus
- Support Accounts Payable processing and review supporting documentation
- Assist with preparation of monthly journal entries and accruals
- Perform AR, General Ledger, and Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Provide financial processing support for Homecare Accounts Payable
- Assist with tracking grant expenditures and preparing financial components of grant reports
Hourly Rate: $18.00/hr.
Schedule:
Hybrid; 20 hours/week;
In office on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
