The Staff Auditor (Internal Auditor II) position with the Maryland Department of General Services' Office of External Affairs conducts internal audits across DGS divisions to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines. The role reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and includes developing audit programs, evaluating financial and operational controls, preparing audit reports, and recommending improvements to internal controls and compliance practices.
The position is located at the Baltimore State Office Complex.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university
- Three years of experience conducting financial and operational internal audits
- Experience evaluating compliance with State and federal laws, regulations, and agency policies
- Experience identifying control weaknesses and recommending corrective actions
- Valid Maryland driver's license or reliable transportation for travel to audit locations
