Main PurposeThe main purpose of this position is to develop appropriate revenue requirements for smaller public utilities through audits and analyses of their accounting records in accordance with GAAP and PSC policies.
Minimum Qualifications- Public Utility Auditor IV
- Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related business field from an accredited institution with 30 credit hours in accounting and auditing. - Experience:
Two years of professional experience in accounting or auditing with a public utility company or regulatory agency. - Notes:
- General accounting and auditing experience may substitute for required experience at a rate of two years of general experience for one year of required experience.
- Military service experience as a commissioned officer with qualifying tax‑examining responsibilities may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Education:
- Public Utility Auditor Lead/Advance
- Education:
Same as above. - Experience:
Three years of professional experience in accounting or auditing with a public utility company or regulatory agency. - Notes:
- General accounting and auditing experience can substitute at the same 2:1 ratio.
- Military service experience may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Education:
Preferred Qualifications
- Utility accounting and rate making experience.
- Able to audit financial statements and data, and to provide written and verbal presentations.
- Experience guiding, leading, or training employees.
- CPA certification is a plus.
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland if duties require vehicle operation.
