Controller, Accounting, Financial Compliance

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing organization based in the DC metro area. This is a high-visibility role for a hands‑on leader who can oversee financial reporting, internal controls, and team management while partnering closely with senior leadership.

• Own the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements
• Oversee GAAP-compliant financial reporting and ensure compliance with internal controls
• Manage and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and professional development
• Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate the annual audit process
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and efficiencies
• Ensure compliance with tax filings and regulatory requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
• Big 4 public accounting background required
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including prior Controller or Assistant Controller-level experience
• Strong technical accounting knowledge (GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls)
• Proven ability to lead and develop a team
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Experience with [ERP system — e.g., Net Suite, Yardi, SAP] a plus
