Job SummaryAll basic and necessary Administrative work.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Greet all visitors to the department.
- Makes all travel arrangements for the Chairperson
- Exercises independent judgment and initiative, sensitive to the department.
- Prepares all employment documents for temporary and full-time faculty.
- Answers the telephone and directs persons to the proper channels.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
Experience: Three years secretarial experience is required.
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience
Other Preferences for Consideration- A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Google Workspace Proficiency is preferred.
- Experience working within a higher education institution setting.
- Ability to manage office operations and staff
- Ability to work independently, while functioning as a team member
- Ability to perform a wide range of complex, competing, and confidential administrative duties
- Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in the practical application of office practices, procedures, and equipment
- General knowledge of and skill in the use of word processing, database, and spreadsheet software programs
- Skill in composing a variety of correspondence; in operating manual and automated office equipment; in managing filing systems; in gathering and summarizing information
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and handling sensitive matters with discretion and tact. Ability to project a professional and positive image
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to make effective oral presentations
- Ability to interact with students, public officials and staff at all levels in a courteous and efficient manner
- Plan, organize, prioritize, and execute complicated and continuing assignments without instruction
