Main Purpose of JobAdministrative Officer I Supervisor is an administrative role that requires regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans or policies. The position involves the analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement and supervision of professional and/or support staff.
Position DutiesThe Administrative Officer I Supervisor manages and coordinates all office workload, oversees attorney and support staff interactions, and ensures the effective operation of the Wabash Division office to serve clients. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, and managing all tasks; serving on the office Leadership Team for strategy and long‑term planning; representing the office with OPD administration on staff issues; managing relationships with contract attorneys and outside organizations;
and acting as the primary problem solver for daily issues.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high‑school equivalency certificate.
- One year of administrative staff or professional work experience.
- 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience.
- U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer, involving staff work that required independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, and procedures, may substitute for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience planning and directing activities or managing the daily operations of an organizational unit or program.
- Experience working with a disadvantaged client base.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications.
- Ability to track and analyze data.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience working in a law office or court system, with detained or incarcerated persons, attorneys, law enforcement, or courtroom personnel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational, multi‑tasking, and problem‑solving skills.
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
