Overview
Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins University's focus on research, teaching and patient care. We create enduring relationships that result in advocacy and philanthropic support for Johns Hopkins University & Medicine, strengthening the institution through partnerships with donors, alumni, volunteer leaders, faculty, students, staff and patients.
ResponsibilitiesProvide development‑related support to the Alumni Relations and Special Events teams in the Office of External Affairs. Core duties include:
- Coordinate advanced logistics for in‑person, hybrid and virtual events, symposiums, lectures and meetings.
- Design, prepare and distribute invitations and registration forms; track RSVPs; submit RFPs, evaluate proposals and negotiate contracts; process event invoices.
- Research venues, reserve rooms, coordinate security, housekeeping, parking and transportation.
- Arrange audio/visual equipment and virtual attendee connection details.
- Prepare meeting materials, guest lists and confidential briefings using donor/alumni database.
- Manage onsite event logistics, including space preparation, transport, set‑up, service provider contact and staff volunteer management.
- Provide post‑event support: receipt and payment of invoices, attendance reporting, budget liaison and inventory management of donor giveaways.
- Assist with larger group projects and assignments; send correspondence and packages via messenger or Fed Ex as needed.
- Prior event experience and excellent computer software skills (Microsoft Office, database management).
- Graphic design experience and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to set priorities; work in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours to assist with events.
