The Operations Manager plays a key role in keeping our day-to-day operations running smoothly in support of our NETA electrical testing services. This person is responsible for making sure projects are properly staffed, planned, equipped, and executed safely and efficiently. You'll work closely with technicians, customers, and internal teams to ensure testing projects are completed on time, meet NETA standards, and deliver a high level of quality and professionalism.

This role is focused on coordinating people, schedules, equipment, and processes to support successful project execution from kickoff through closeout.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations supporting NETA electrical testing services, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable testing standards.
  • Help create structure and consistency by implementing clear processes, accountability, and operational discipline.
  • Monitor job progress, technician availability, and customer commitments to ensure testing projects stay on track.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and overall performance.
  • Schedule and assign technicians to testing projects based on scope, timing, location, and technician qualifications.
  • Balance technician workloads while maintaining flexibility to respond to urgent or unplanned testing needs.
  • Coordinate travel, overtime, and coverage plans to support project schedules and customer deadlines.
  • Develop, review, or coordinate testing plans to ensure alignment with project scope, standards, and customer expectations.
  • Ensure work packages are complete prior to mobilization, including scope clarity, equipment readiness, safety requirements, site coordination, and scheduling.
  • Confirm the team has the technical capability, certifications, and resources needed to perform electrical testing safely and to standard.
  • Create and manage change orders when project scope, site conditions, or customer requirements evolve.
  • Communicate scope or schedule changes internally and with customers to ensure proper approvals and documentation.
  • Keep schedules, staffing plans, and deliverables aligned with confirmed scope changes.
  • Ensure testing equipment and tools are available, properly maintained, and ready to support current and upcoming testing work.
  • Coordinate equipment tracking, availability, maintenance, and calibration as required for testing accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify equipment needs early and help plan for rentals or purchases to avoid delays.
  • Support technician development through training, mentorship, performance feedback, and career progression.
  • Assist with hiring and onboarding technicians with the skills and aptitude to support electrical testing services.
  • Oversee preparation and review of customer test reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and professional presentation.
  • Ensure reports meet applicable standards and are delivered to customers in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate report completion from field documentation through final delivery, resolving any missing information or technical questions.
  • Serve as an internal escalation point for active projects and help resolve operational, scheduling, or technical challenges.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding schedules, project updates, and deliverables.
  • Partner with sales and estimating teams to ensure testing work is properly scoped and operationally supported.
  • Track key operational metrics such as technician utilization, project timelines, and report turnaround times.
  • Provide leadership with regular updates on operational performance, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Help strengthen operational systems, processes, and workflows to improve efficiency, consistency, and service quality.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of operations management experience in a field service environment (electrical, power systems, industrial services, or similar preferred)
  • Experience scheduling and managing field personnel across multiple projects
  • Strong leadership skills and experience supporting technician development
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, especially around documentation and reporting
  • Comfortable using Microsoft 365 and scheduling or job tracking systems
  • Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with electrical testing standards and testing plans
  • Current NETA certification
  • Experience working in critical environments such as utilities, industrial facilities, or data centers
  • Experience improving workflows, processes, or operational systems
