We’re eager to work with humble team players and pragmatic next‑level thinkers to innovate on Home Chef’s offerings. This role follows a day shift schedule, working from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with designated days off on Sunday & Monday.
- Execute Environmental Health and Safety Policies, Programs, and Systems:
- Execute the strategy for the development and sustainability of the safety culture in the plant
- Lead implementation of all environmental health and safety policies
- Oversee implementation of internal OSHA compliance program, including internal assessments, corrective actions, and coaching
- Maintain the behavioral observation program and conduct observations to ensure safety‑specific policies (e.g. lockout tag‑out, PIT operation, fall protection) are followed under the guidance of the Safety Manager and National Safety Manager
- Communicate and roll out new policies, ensuring all impacted employees are informed and understand expectations
- Assist the site in maintaining the Process Safety Management (PSM) program and environmental considerations for refrigeration units
- Understand site waste streams and coordinate with relevant plant functions to reduce, reuse, recycle
- Manage training: partner with plant and national training resources to ensure all required safety training is conducted for new hires and annual re‑training for existing employees
- Maintain records of Powered Industrial Trucks licensing, including observation of user understanding prior to licensing or relicensing
- Conduct periodic review of temp agency safety trainings to ensure compliance
- Identify and lead the safety team:
- Mentor and coach the EHS team of 4 people per shift representative across departments and positions (e.g. associates, leads, supervisors)
- Ensure EHS Leads execute work tasks and provide cross‑functional support for all EHS‑related issues
- Plan and conduct regular safety meetings (at least monthly) with the EHS team to discuss issues and provide targeted training
- Ensure issues discussed are communicated to all Home Chef team members
- Hold EHS team members accountable for escalating safety issues identified by any team member
- Promote employee engagement in the safety process
- Participate in the corporate safety team to share best practices across Home Chef plants
- Incident support and root‑cause analysis:
- Provide off‑shift coverage as escalation point and resource for safety incidents
- Partner with plant leadership on near‑miss and recordable incident investigations and triage individuals as needed
- Assist in Incident Review Board (IRB) meetings to conduct root‑cause analyses and determine corrective and preventive actions
- Serve as liaison between management and maintenance to execute action items related to safety
- Partner closely with Human Resources to manage worker compensation, coordinate doctor visits, determine time‑off requirements, and communicate physical limitations upon return to work
- Maintain constant communication with injured associates, Workers’ Comp adjusters, and medical facilities
- Assist in creating job safety analysis (JSA) processes plant‑wide
