The National Federation of the Blind is a membership organization of blind people from each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. As America's civil rights organization of the blind, the Federation is a coordinated network of skilled advocates, resources, and programs that raise expectations of the blind in society and create opportunities for blind people to live the lives they want.

The staff of the Federation are central to the organized blind movement by providing support, professional expertise, and daily contributions to the success of the organization. Working under the direction of the Federation's elected President, the staff advise the organization's leadership and contribute to the vibrant, energetic, and collaborative culture of the organization that raises expectations throughout society.

The Advocacy and Policy Department of the National Federation of the Blind is responsible for assisting the President in the coordination and management of all federal legislative and regulatory advocacy; providing affiliates with state and local legislative technical assistance, strategy development and training; membership support with education, employment, and social security issues; the administration of our Independence Market; and the administration of our NFB-NEWSLINE® system.

The National Federation of the Blind is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to join our team as a Contract Specialist for the NFB-NEWSLINE service. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a service that is making a significant impact on the lives of blind, low-vision, deafblind, and print-disabled individuals across the United States by providing them with accessible information.

As the NFB-NEWSLINE Contract Specialist, you will work with the NFB-NEWSLINE Program Manager to take the NFB-NEWSLINE service to the next level. We are looking for a self-starter who can multitask efficiently, has excellent attention to detail, and has good customer service skills.

About NFB-NEWSLINE®

NFB-NEWSLINE is a free audio and Braille information service that provides access to over 600 publications, including national, state, and international newspapers, breaking news, magazines, emergency weather alerts, retail ads, job listings, and TV listings. Our subscribers can access these publications via a touchtone telephone, the internet, OnDemand email, portable players, or iOS and Android Devices such as an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy respectively.

Responsibilities
  • Track and process NFB-NEWSLINE sponsor contract renewals
  • Track and process NFB-NEWSLINE outreach contract renewals
  • Monitor contract and reporting systems for bottlenecks or errors, propose solutions, and track the effectiveness of implemented changes
  • Stay current on best practices and tools that could enhance contract management efficiency, and make recommendations for changes where appropriate
  • Coordinate with accounting to track and send NFB-NEWSLINE invoices and assist with collections
  • Prepare NFB-NEWSLINE usage reports as needed to accompany sponsor invoices
  • Assist with subscriber onboarding, training, and customer service
  • Assist with presentations to community stakeholders on NFB-NEWSLINE
  • Assist with reports on service usage, user feedback, and other key metrics
Qualifications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to effectively relate to a wide variety of people to maintain/develop professional relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to review and audit contracts, invoices, and reports with accuracy and consistency
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and follow-up skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Deadline-oriented
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to adapt to changes and work in a dynamic environment
Education and Experience
  • Experience reviewing and reporting on contracts or other technical items
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, or related field
  • Equivalent work experience will be considered
Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position is between 52,500/yr and 57,000 dollars per year.
