DESCRIPTIONMichael Baker is seeking a skilled, detail‑oriented Structural Steel Bridge Inspector to support projects for the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA). This role is ideal for someone with strong knowledge of steel bridge construction who is committed to safety, quality, and ensuring contractor compliance. You will play a key part in monitoring structural steel activities on active bridge construction projects.
Project site is in Stevensville, MD
Responsibilities- Support the inspection of structural steel installations and repairs on bridges and related structures.
- Observe contractor work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety requirements.
- Prepare accurate technical inspection reports.
- Record measurements, observations, and quantities for completed work.
- Review construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Assist Project Managers with project deliverables and daily activity reporting.
- Communicate safety concerns, constructability issues, schedule impacts, or budget considerations to relevant personnel.
- 2+ years experience in steel bridge construction.
- Prior Steelworker/Ironworker background preferred.
- Experience in construction materials testing and willingness/ability to obtain related certifications.
- Ability to prepare records, reports, and correspondence, with experience using CMI software preferred.
The approximate compensation range for this position is $23/hr to $39/hr this compensation range is a good-faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
