Position Summary

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting, administering, and coordinating all Company safety policies and programs across assigned locations, departments, and projects. This role ensures compliance with all federal and state OSHA standards and regulations while actively promoting a strong safety culture. The Safety Coordinator evaluates workplace hazards, investigates incidents, assists with safety training, and provides administrative support to maintain accurate safety documentation and records.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and enforcement of Company safety policies and programs
  • Promote, uphold, and positively influence a company-wide safety culture
  • Advise and guide employees and management on safety-related topics and best practices
  • Conduct routine and jobsite-specific safety inspections; present findings to project foremen and the Safety Committee and follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed
  • Prepare and deliver safety trainings, orientations, and educational seminars
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager to review, update, and improve safety policies and procedures
  • Support foremen and field personnel with safety-related needs and concerns
  • Assist Human Resources with safety components of the new employee onboarding process
  • Prepare and distribute safety documentation for newly awarded projects
  • Enforce preventative safety measures and educate employees on hazard identification and mitigation
  • Assist in coordinating and participating in Safety Committee meetings
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports, identify root causes, and assist affected employees as needed
  • Oversee work activities where potential hazards exist to ensure safe practices are followed
  • Coordinate with HR to track and maintain employee training records and certifications
  • Work with Accounting to maintain accurate Workers’ Compensation records
  • Provide safety-related administrative support to the Operations team
  • Accurately maintain and submit OSHA 300 logs and related documentation
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English with both management and field personnel
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with, train, and mentor management and field employees
Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements Working Conditions
  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow
  • Exposure to construction-related hazards such as dust, fumes, odors, loud or repetitive noise, and other environmental conditions
  • Work may involve heights, confined spaces, and active construction sites
  • Position requires working around energized circuits and equipment
  • Frequent travel to jobsites; must have reliable transportation and ability to spend extended time driving
  • May require extended hours, weekend work, or assignment to specific projects on a part-time or full-time basis
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, drive, and speak to large groups for extended periods
  • Ability to access all areas of a construction site, including climbing OSHA-approved ladders or unfinished stairways
  • Ability to manage job-related stress and interact effectively with employees, management, and external partners
